Adding a used laser to an existing practice can be an exciting time. In many cases, existing clients may be the first to line up for the new services. The laser will be of no use to you, your staff or your business if it is not operational. Furthermore, the used laser must be in condition to provide safe, yet effective treatments. Many used lasers are sold as is with little or – even worse – no warranty. So what happens if the used laser you selected turns out to be a lemon? You could be left high and dry with an expensive machine that provides no value. Don’t let it happen.
Secondly, the used laser will be of little use if your staff isn’t comfortable using it. Knowledge is power, as the saying goes, and knowledge comes in the form of training. Maybe your staff has worked with a similar device before and has some comfort level? Is the used laser similar enough? Maybe the used laser broker provided training. Who authorized him to do so? How does the used laser broker have access to another company’s proprietary protocols and parameters? Will a thrown-together, haphazard training from a non-authorized source provide you with the comfort level you need? Please give training serious consideration.
